Not as good as it could have been
When I first started, I was somewhat disappointed, because the general presentation of the game was poor. Not that it was bad, it's just that the 2nd game seemed much better.
But I started playing it, and having played the other two, I managed to get a few gold stars, perfects and obviously got stuck on the hard songs. But I wouldn't blame you for that, your intent was to make a game and it's not for me to decide that it sucks because it's too hard.
Now the thing is I love the new stuff. I noticed you added in the progress of the song, which is great, and damn helpful. The songs themselves were poorly chosen in my opinion, they remind me a lot of the Rockband songs, most of which aren't that good. Some of them were okay, but they quickly got boring.
Another thing that somewhat annoyed me was the extreme duration of the songs. The average length jumped up to 3-4 minutes. That was a pain when I first started playing, especially when I was aiming for perfects and lost it just at the end. But again , I wouldn'tpenalize for that.
So what really brings the game down comes down to a few things:
1) Poor presentation. I'm sorry, but when I first started up this game, I just thought to myself, "Wow, this looks worse than the second one."
2) This is a small point, but I don't like the new stickman. -0.001 for that. I prefer the flaming guitar.
3) Songs are of poor choice. There are some good ones, but most are very annoying long ones. Variety = good, but most of these are the same style and are all boring to me.
4) I prefer the old controls.
Most of these are my own opinion, so don't take it harshly, but all in all, I played for about two hours and don't plan on playing again as opposed to the second one which I played for days in an effort to get all perfects (which I still am aiming for and still play). I'm not sure what it is, but I think those four points are what made the second game better.
